This Protected Landscape Area comprehends a land area of about 2926 ha, beginning at the mouth of the Ribeira that flows west of the Fajã Isabel Pereira to the Protected Area for the Management of Habitats or Species of the Costa do Topo. Regarding to the fauna, in this area you can find species such as grey heron (Ardea cinerea) and the whimbrel (Numenius phaeopus). Regarding the flora, there are species of juniper (Juniperus brevifolia), azorean candleberry tree (Morella faya) and “pau-branco” (Picconia azorica).
